Personal Project
This was a proof-of-concept exercise that started with a question: What's your perfect slice? The project was inspired by several of Giorgia Lupi's projects, where she designed badges for conference attendees using their unique answers to questions to create wearable buttons that might spark conversations between strangers.
My 8th grader and I applied the same playful spirit to create personal data portraits for a classroom of middle schoolers. First, the 8th graders were asked about toppings, crust style, sauce-to-cheese ratio. Next, each answer was pictorially encoded and R/RStudio pulled everything together to create individualized pizza portraits, each one as unique as the person and pizza order behind it!
