Analyzing, visualizing & writing about health data
Hi, I'm Stacy.
I'm a freelancing public health consultant who enjoys working in the liminal space between art and science. I collaborate with health scientists, weaving visuals and narratives to help make meaning from data by improving understanding and facilitating insights.
With a background in disaster epidemiology and toxicology, I apply a broad-based skill set grounded in over 15 years of experience designing and conducting epidemiological studies, authoring manuscripts and technical reports and translating findings into interventions aimed at improving health outcomes.
As a health information designer, I listen to client perspectives and needs to develop solutions that balance comprehension and ingenuity, carefully choosing layouts, colors and annotations that facilitate accessibility and understanding with the aim of inspiring viewers to see information in a new light.
As an epidemiologist, I think about the data first, considering data quality and uncertainty and working to ensure that depictions and descriptions allow for an accurate representation.
As a technical writer and certified copy editor, I communicate results with accessible, engaging copy. I'm comfortable with a variety of style guides, and the USAID and WHO style guides are frequently open in my browser.
Always a learner, I thrive on applying existing skills in new settings and retooling to meet evolving needs. If you have a project, I'd love to hear about it!
