Visual references can be useful for introducing complex concepts and generating interest. In the course of my work as an epidemiologist and technical writer, I work to identify instances where visuals can help orient audiences or clarify messages then curate graphics to support the data and text. These may be infographics, diagrams, tables, timelines or icons.
